Love is All Around!

There are times all of us face trials and tribulations. During those times, it’s very hard to realize or feel the love that surrounds us. I personally like to be in control of things in my life. I’ve even gone as far as attempting to control my emotions and life journeys when it was more appropriate to accept and just live. It’s funny to think about, let alone write this. because I know better. I am not the One in control! At times I can easily slip right back in. However, I have made adequate changes in my life to get out of that mode all together.  The first is keeping the Creator first and the second was returning to my first love, Dance.

Both help me realize the love that surrounds me. They open my eyes to see beyond what’s in front of me. As most of us do, we would rather put up a wall than be vulnerable in front of those that we know are there for us.

Embrace the love and allow others to walk with you, talk with you, and, most importantly, hold you up during your trials and tribulations. After all, they are sent to us; who are we to reject a gift given by Him?

Dance when you’re broken open.
Dance when you’ve torn the bandage off.
Dance in the middle of fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance when you’re perfectly free.
Struck, the dancer hears a tambourine inside her,
like a wave that crests into foam at the very top,
Begins.

Maybe you don’t hear that tambourine,
or the tree leaves clapping time.
Close the ears on your head,
that listen mostly to lies and cynical jokes.
There are other things to see, and hear.
Music. Dance.
A brilliant city inside your soul!

The Whole Heart Productions Launch Party

DSC09307Our WHP launch party took place at Beso Restaurant and Bar on April 11, 2015. We were surrounded by love of family friends, neighbors, colleagues, teachers and more. What an experience! In the midst of speaking, I realized the emotions one goes through when things are good are just the same as during trying times. We do not second guess inviting others to celebrate. We do it so that love and support can be deposited. Therefore, we should do the same when things aren’t going so well.

People arrived with open minds without fully understanding what WHP was all about. After the explanation and brief history of the company, I felt a huge shift. My story touched their souls, which opened the space for a better connection to the work I’m striving to do. One of my neighbors asked, “What took you so long to talk to me?”. I smiled, and she continued. “Knowing what I know now, I wish I could have known what you were doing years ago.”

That night, my energy was running so high that I don’t remember going to sleep. I took notes from the ideas that were running through my head, all while thanking the Almighty for His love and the love of others that continues to embrace me.
