Sulé Adams

A native of New Orleans, Sulé is a talented dancer, choreographer, and performing artist trained in African, Modern, and Contemporary dance styles. He received his B.S. in Community Arts Management from SUNY Empire State College and an MA in Leadership in the Arts and Entertainment Industries, and has steered himself to work with and study under the leadership of many widely renowned and highly-esteemed individuals including Abdoulaye “Papa” Camara, Mariama Curry, Marie Basse, Ronald K. Brown, Assane Konte, Richard Gonzalez, Greer Mendy, Theodore H. Jamison, and Danny Hinds.
A former company member of Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, A Dance Company, Sulé’s accomplishments also include becoming a principal dancer with recognition in several musicals which include his choreography – an original musical A Wife For Itsai (M.C. Benjamin), A Song Not New, My Dreams Are, Just A Winter Night, Mirror- Mirror, In Celebration (L. Jones), We’ve Come This Far By Faith (T. Hayes), and Raisin (the musical adaptation of the play A Raisin in the Sun). In 1996 he was a featured dancer in the Warner Brothers motion picture Dark Angel.
In addition to performing, Sulé directed and wrote the script for N’Kafu Traditional African Dance Company’s production Kumba Amde – Kumba Amunde (1999). During his teaching tenure with New Orleans Public School System (1997-2002) he wrote, produced and choreographed Sankofa: In the Days of the Dance, (2001) a time line of Black Dance used as a teaching tool to educate his students. In 2000-2002 Sulé became the Artistic Director of Allahbatu African Dance and Drum Company (New Orleans, LA) where he choreographed its second annual production of Allabatu (2002).
After moving to Atlanta, Sulé became the first African American to tour with the electrifying all male South African dance company Soweto Street Beat (2003). In Atlanta, Sulé also taught community classes and workshops, produced, choreographed, and consulted for other artists and companies as the Founding Artistic Director of Whole Heart Productions (2004-2008). A few productions and choreographies with WHP included: Dreamality – Act Upon Your Dreams the sizzling, raw debut of WHP; Men of the Night, in the production “She Lives! Celebrating the Life of Katherine Dunham,” for the Dunham Institute of Atlanta during the Dynamic Dance Festival; Conquering Lion “Celebrating Richard” the 80th Birthday Celebration of Dr. Richard Long and Kasundae for the 100 Black Men of Delkalb’s Kwanzaa celebration. Sulé is currently a producer for La Danse Noire and a dancer with Francine E. Ott/The Walk.
“Dance is always a work through spirit.” Living and working by that motto, Sulé continues to share and pave a way for dreamers and their dreams as the Founder & Executive Producer of the newly reestablished Whole Heart Productions.
